Have a deep understanding of the purpose and goal of Cursillo:
Purpose: "To convert Christians to a deeper relationship with God and to help them understand their individual calling to be Christian leaders."
Goal: "To change the world and provide a backbone for Christian life in every environment" (from Nat'l Episcopal Cursillo Library)
Understand that Cursillo is not meant to work miracles and that not everyone should (or is ready to) attend a Cursillo Weekend.
Have a clear understanding that the Cursillo Weekend is ONLY the preparation for the rest of one's Christian life (4th Day).
fully informed of the PURPOSE and structure of the weekend. SECRECY SHOULD BE MINIMIZED.
a potential leader who can change environments and desires to grow as Christian.
free of family stress such as recent divorce, family death, loss of job, or other emotional trauma. This weekend is not designed to "fix" someone in stress, even though much healing may occur during one's participation in this time.
if married, recommend that the husband and wife make the Cursillo together if possible.
insure that the application is signed by the candidate, yourself (as the sponsor), the parish priest, and submitted before the application deadline.
provide transportation to and from the location of the weekend.
support the candidate with palanca (prayer, fasting, notes); be present at Mananitas and Clausura or arrange a substitute.
afford the candidate the opportunity for a Fourth Day life, aiding
and encouraging him/her to be a permanent member of a Group Reunion and
attend Ultreya.
